Far From Home: Take part in the Circumpolar Lab's latest project

The Circumpolar Laboratory Inventory Project (CLIP) is seeking the help of other museums, labs, and institutions. Far From Home is a project aimed at identifying Alaskan archaeological collections from 35+ years ago housed in the continental United States.

Far From Home will identify legacy collections with the goal of illustrating the reach of Alaskan interests outside of the state, and will explore the history of the Giddings and Anderson collections at the Haffenreffer Museum. The project will investigate the role of these collections in exhibitions and teaching at Brown University, and examine factors that have contributed to the decline in use of the collection by Alaskan anthropologists and Alaskan Native people.

If your institution has an Alaskan Archaeological Legacy Collection, please take a moment to answer our survey. Thank you in advance for your participation, and please feel free to share the survey with colleagues who might have information to contribute. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email the HaffenrefferMuseum@brown.edu
