Registrar
Full Time, Regular, Salary Grade 11
The Registrar is responsible for oversight and management of the
museum's archaeological, ethnographic, and historical collections and
associated records. Working collaboratively with the Director,
Associate Director, and Head Curator, the Registrar manages protocols
and policies, collection storage and rehousing, safety and access, and
the museum's database management system. Coordinates acquisitions,
deaccessioning, and loans and manages insurance coverage, object
transportation, and shipping and crating. Meets with donors and
provides temporary receipts, deeds of gift, and tax-deduction
information. Assesses needed conservation treatment and implements
best practices in collection preservation. Serves on the museum's
Collections, Exhibitions, and NAGPRA committees and supervises
registrarial assistants and student interns.
Candidates must have a masters degree in anthropology, art history,
museum studies, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of
experience in an academic museum.
