We are proud to welcome Leah Burgin to the Haffenreffer Museum's team as our new Manager of Museum Education and Programs. Leah previously assisted the Museum as an Education and Outreach Assistant, helped to organize the student docent group MUSE, and coordinated our "Think Like an Archaeologist" outreach program. Leah has degrees in anthropological archaeology from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and public humanities from Brown University's department of American Studies. Prior to joining our team, she was involved in developing public interpretation and museum education programs for the National Park Service, the National Zoo, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Building Museum.
As Manager of Museum Programs and Education, Leah will be responsible for overseeing and managing academic opportunities at the Museum for Brown University's faculty and student body; coordinating the Museum's Faculty Fellows program; organizing and overseeing an active, annual program of lectures and events for the university and the general public; managing and developing the Museum's pre-K-12 outreach and engagement programs; and overseeing staff, interns, volunteers, guards/greeters, and student workers to implement those programs.
Geralyn Ducady, who previously led the Haffenreffer Museum's Education Program, took on a new role last year as Director of the Rhode Island Historical Society's Newell D. Goff Center for Education and Public Programs.
