About the Faculty Fellowship Program

Update: The Faculty Fellows Program is currently on hiatus. If you'd like to be updated when the program resumes, please contact us at: HaffenrefferMuseum@brown.edu

The Faculty Fellows Program made an enormous difference to me and my students this term. It helped me make clear to the students, using new materials and new approaches, some of the fundamental insights of the course... The Faculty Fellow Program helped me transform the course and push it in rewarding and innovative directions.

Paja Faudree Assistant Professor of Anthropology, ANTH 0800 Sounds and Symbols

Enrich your teaching through the Haffenreffer Museum Faculty Fellows Program. Since 2013, this program has connected Brown University students and faculty with material culture from around the world.

Faculty from a dozen different departments have used the $500 in research funds and support from Museum staff to:

  • Learn about the Museum’s resources for faculty and students.
  • Integrate object-based teaching and learning into existing courses through assignments.
  • Design new courses with museum-related themes or components.
  • Develop research or curatorial term projects inspired by the Museum’s collections.
  • Coordinate class visits to the Culture Lab and/or Collections Research Center.
  • Pursue other creative, object-based teaching projects.
