As Registrar, Dawn Kimbrel has overall responsibility for collection documentation, coordination of acquisitions, loans, collection spaces, transport, preventive conservation and risk management. Recently, she initiated the Haffenreffer’s participation in the AAM Museum Assessment Program – Collections Stewardship. The report informed the strategy for the planning and implementation of the Mellon Move Project now underway. Dawn brings professional experience to Brown from the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Dawn’s interests include direct care of cultural heritage, placemaking, grantsmanship, guiding student projects, and community engagement through interdisciplinary partnerships. She holds an M.A. in English (cultural linguistics) from Indiana University, Bloomington and an ALM in Museum Studies from Harvard University.
